Services

Shelter:  Christian Care provides safe shelter for men, women, and children who find themselves experiencing homelessness. We have a 42-bed capacity at our men's shelter with six beds designated for our Veterans Transitional Housing Program. At our women's shelter we have a 20-bed capacity for women and children. 

Community Meal Site: Christian Care provides a community meal site that is open seven days a week. We encourage anyone in need to join us. 
Hours are as follows:
         Breakfast:  6:30AM-7:00AM
         Lunch:  12:00PM-12:30PM
         Dinner:  6:30PM-7:00PM     
**Lunch is not served on Saturday & Sunday**

Public Shower: Christian Care offers a free shower to anyone in need. We provide towels and hygiene products. All we ask in return is to respect our property and return the towel. This service is offered Monday- Friday 9:00AM-11:00AM.

Warming & Cooling Center Site: Christian Care serves as a Warming & Cooling Center Site for individuals in need of respite from the hot and cold temperatures.

  • Warming center is open Monday to Friday 8AM-7PM when the temperature is at or below 15 degrees fahrenheit with the windchill. 
  • Cooling Center is open Monday- Friday 8AM-7PM when the temperature is at or above 90 degrees fahrenheit.

**We close the heating and cooling sites briefly before meal times to set up for the meal site. **

Community Health Care Program: In partnership with Community Health Care, Christian Care is able to provide an on-site medical clinic. Doctors and nurses are at our Rescue Mission once a week to assist those needing free access to healthcare. 

CHC is at our Rescue Mission from 11:00AM-1:00PM every Tuesday. 

Caring for Our Community Parish Nursing Program: In partnership with UnityPoint Trinity Parish Nursing and Health Ministry, Christian Care is able to provide on-site basic medical and preventative healthcare. This program can offer medical assessments, blood pressure screenings, education on health, wellness and medication, and community referrals. Services are available to anybody accessing our community meal site.

A parish nurse is available every Wednesday from 11:00AM – 1:00PM.

Prairie State Legal Pro Bono Services: Every other Wednesday Prairie State Legal is at our Rescue Mission offering free legal assistance or guidance to anyone in need. This service is available to anyone who accesses our meal site- by appointment only. 

Street Outreach: Christian Care and Project Now in Rock Island have teamed up to offer homeless street outreach services for Rock Island County and surrounding areas. Lissa Lee (PN) and De’Andre Robinson (CC) will work side-by-side with community partners, law enforcement and hospitals to identify and engage those living unsheltered in our community.
